The Grammy Awards have had their share of shame and controversy in the past. One such incident was that of the "Best New Artist" award being handed to pop group Milli Vanilli in 1990 despite controversy surrounding them lip syncing on records. When the admission finally came from the group later that year the fallout would be long lasting and ultimately tragic.
