The era of Web 2.0 has massive impact on the way people communicate and use the Internet. NO longer are web pages static with overloaded passive contents, now sites are getting interactive and allow user participation online. One of the most popular type of sites as the result of the Web 2.0 wave are the social networking sites or social bookmarking sites.
Sites such as Orkut, facebook, MySpace and reddit have millions of visitors daily. It makes sense to channel some of this to your own blog. There are many ways you can market your blog in these sites and we will share those with you in our future posts. But for now the normal way is to really get involved in several online communities.
Networking is like a relationship, it takes time for other members to know you and read your stuff. Try to offer as much useful help as you can by reading & commenting on other people information because online communities users really appreciate this. Many of our social bookmarking site members found good friends and bloggers with similar interests.
All social networking site offer a profile feature that you can include your main blog URL and other info about your site, so take advantage of this as it’s a good introduction to you & your blog.
By just having a blog, it means that you have your own mini online social community. Usually your blog will be based around a specific theme and allows others to give you feedback using the comment feature.
There are also lots of different kind of widgets available to further enhance the networking effects of a blog. Combining the features of a blog with the power of several online communities you’ll end up with the perfect online marketing plan.
