

This post reviews the 4th Inspector Chen novel by Qiu Xiaolong, an author who grew up in China and now lives in St. Louis. Inspector Chen takes on the difficult and politically-sensitive cases in Shanghai. However, he doesn't see eye-to-eye with Communist Party officials and has to walk a fine line between uncovering the corruption and losing his life. This novel follows Chen from Shanghai to Los Angeles to St. Louis on the trail of a major crime figure with ties to the Politburo.
